What makes The Dominican Republic unique?

The Dominican Republic offers something for everyone and can fulfil the holiday dreams of those seeking sophisticated luxury, eco-adventure, arts and culture or simple lazy days on white sandy beaches.  Year-round sports, effervescent nightlife, distinctive shopping, relaxing resorts, designer golf courses and magnificent national parks make for a fun-filled vacation to-do list.

Among the Dominican Republic’s breath-taking surroundings are an extraordinary variety of the hottest and newest hotels ranging from luxury resorts to family-friendly hotels to boutique properties. The Dominican Republic offers an abundance of accommodations to satisfy every style and budget. And with eight international airports and numerous seaports and marinas, paradise has never been easier to explore.

With the pulse-pounding thrill of the meringue and bachata, intriguing relics from centuries past and upscale resorts and marinas, the Dominican Republic is both an exciting and sophisticated country that will delight even the most experienced    traveller.

What is the ‘hot spot’ for 2015?

The Colonial City of Santo Domingo, which is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar face lift.

Where is your favourite, off the beaten track, location?

White sandy beaches, cool azure waters, balmy Caribbean nights: the Dominican Republic's Samana Peninsula is this and much more.  The hump back whales migrate to Samana Bay annually from the end of December to March and can be seen from a land observatory as well.

What is your top tip for people travelling to your country for the first time?

We recommend a day trip to Saona Island. Saona Island, with its white sand and turquoise waters, is a most popular excursion offered in the Dominican Republic.

Recommend an incredible place to stay.

The Historical Nicolas Hostal in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo.
